It’s no secret. I’m not a great photographer. You guys see my pictures (and can probably tell the ones I take vs. the ones I don’t). Every once in a while, I luck out and take a great shot. And I’ve been reading up on how to get better. But sometimes, a pretty distraction can make my average pictures seem just a little better than average. In these days of awesome technology, there are all kinds of apps out there to help me out.
You’ve probably already heard of Hipstamatic (sorry Android user friends, I don’t think they make an Adroid app for it yet). It’s an “old-timey” camera that’s not really so old at all. It’s really just software that uses your iPhone camera to take and make pictures look like vintage shots. You can choose your “film”, “lens” and “flash”, offering up literally thousands of options. There are “packages” you can buy that have themes (think 1970’s disco or grandma’s instamatic), as in-app purchases. I’ve been using it for years and some of my favorite “A Peek Into The Life I Have Chosen” (everyday pics from my daily life) shots feature pics using the app.
One of the new apps that a friend turned me onto just before the holidays is Rhonna Designs. It’s a “pretty things up” app for your pictures. They have ALL kinds of “badges” and “stickers” for your pictures to make them all gussied up and presentable. I used this app a TON during the holidays to put dress up my pictures. I even used a photo that I’d modified using the Rhonna app for our Christmas card.
They have all kinds of “bundles” of badges and stickers that are included and then those that you can purchase. I bought a few for the holidays (including some that were glitter, gold and silver holiday themed) and I’m sure I’ll buy the New Year’s bundle for $0.99.
I’m pretty addicted to this app now, so get used to seeing fun stuff on my pics. I actually can’t stop myself at this point. But I’m guessing you guys are ok with it. Since my photos are now marginally better than before. So you’re welcome.
