We made it! After a quick flight to JFK and then a long hop over the pond (in Business Class thanks to upgrade certificates The Hubbs had – not sure I can ever go back to flying long distances in coach again now), we made it to Heathrow, through Customs and to the rental car counter.
Safely in our Toyota, I decided to let The Hubbs navigate the driving. The other side of the road thing looks like it takes some getting used to. I snoozed while he drove the two hours to Bristol (with one quick stop for a cup of coffee for him. Apparently without me prattling away in his ear, he was getting sleepy).
The hotel is lovely. Lovely enough that we took a 2 hour nap before heading out to explore. Thanks to some friends that live here, we were armed with places to go see, one of which was a block from the hotel front doors. Lots of walking last night and everything is all lit up for the holidays. There may have been a few pints involved and a very nice dinner. Then off to bedforshire. Sadly, jet lag had us both flopping around overnight but we’re up and off to breakfast and then Bath to see the sights there for the day. I think The Hubbs is pretty excited to go check out the old Roman Ruins. He loves him some ancient Roman stuff.
More pics tonight but for now, tally ho! And you’re welcome.
