Thirsty Thursday * I Don’t Know About You But I’m Parched
I’m parched. Thirsty. Cotton mouthed. I think I need a drink. Which is why I created Thirsty Thursdays. It’s like we’re back in college and Thursday is the new Friday. Except we still have to work on Friday. So, it’s not really like college at all.
But we can still cocktail on Thursday nights. And tonight’s cocktail will be shared with you by us from Highlands, North Carolina. You see, Matt and Sandra (the cool neighbors from next door that brought you a Lobster Roll recipe, A Scallop and Corn Chowder recipe and a salt scrub body recipe) rented a house for Sandra’s birthday in Highlands. Here are a few pics of the house. It’s amazeballs. Off the charts amazeballs. And apparently there’s some good hiking and waterfalls around here that I’ll have pics of tomorrow. It’s kind of like heaven.
You want to be me right now, don’t you? I know. It’s ok. Anyway, even if we weren’t in Highlands, we’d be celebrating our Thursdayness with a cocktail with you. But this is no ordinary cocktail today. This is a cocktail I’ve been trying to get to take off for a year now. However, sadly when I go into a bar and order a Wendy Callahan, the bartender never knows what it is. <sigh> I don’t get it. Maybe you can help. Here’s the recipe:
1 oz Cherry flavored vodka (you can use any flavor but cherry is my favorite)
3 oz Soda Water/Club Soda
Splash of grapefruit juice
Squeeze of lime (leave lime wedge in the drink)
Serve over crushed ice
The Hubbs likes this after an afternoon working in the yard. I like it after an afternoon of anything.
It’s refreshing. It’s a little fruity. And the grapefruit juice will keep you from getting Scurvy. And if you don’t know what Scurvy is, you haven’t been ridding around on enough pirate ships. Happy Thirsty Thursday! You’re welcome.
